Don’t worry if your baby has pimples. About 20% of the newborn babies are affected by baby acne, also known as acne-neonatorum.

Let’ know the various aspects of this peculiar type of acne. First things first, the treatment for infantile acne is not the same as that of acne treatment for any other age group.

Infantile acne is gender-biased. Male babies are more affected than their female counterparts. Normally babies have the acne attack at the age of 3 weeks. Some babies have it from the time of delivery. Generally the types of acne you find in infants are papules and pustules. Papules are red bumps and pustules are whiteheads. They have a collection of pus.

A very common disease that many baby boys experience as newborns and infants is known as baby acne. There is acne treatment for baby acne but it is not the same as you would put on your own skin as an adult or a teenager.

Baby acne in newborns is known as acne neonatorum. You shouldn’t be alarmed if your baby has baby acne. There is acne treatment for babies that can help minimize the acne. The most common signs of this type of acne are red pimples which will appear on the cheeks, forehead, back, chin, and on other parts of the body. The reason this type of acne occurs on a newborn is because the baby has a reaction to the male and female hormones which are imbalanced because of withdrawals of the mother’s estrogen after being out of the womb.

When a baby has acne the acne treatment is not the same as you would use for you. Don’t run out and buy products with benzoyl peroxide in them or use your prescription medication on your baby. This is because a baby’s skin is too soft and sensitive for these types of acne medications. The best treatments for a baby are the use of hydrocortisone cream, ionic colloidal silver solution, or Baby Areno.

These creams are the most effective for babies that have acne problems with their skin because they are the safest. When a baby has acne they will suffer from itchiness, swelling, and irritation. These creams work to reduce all of these signs, which might seem really scary to you as a new parent.

When babies have acne you should always speak to a pediatrician prior to administering any type of acne treatment. Don’t worry about something being wrong with your baby because it is just a hormonal imbalance due to leaving the womb. It is a common diagnosis for baby boys to get acne and you should not worry about something being wrong with your child. There are different treatments for babies so you can minimize and eliminate the pimples on his or her skin. It is best to use a hydrocortisone type cream designed for itchiness and irritation and not specified acne medications over the counter. Always talk to a pediatrician before you use anything on your baby’s skin.

Mark A. Robbins is an author in the area of skin care and acne treatment. He has written several hundred reviews on products that are designed as the best acne treatments or products to help with anti aging. Mark’s unbiased approach often is found very helpful to consumers who are trying to decide what products to buy for their condition. Mark has hundreds of readers who follow his advice carefully.

Newborn acne is a condition that is common in newborns. Newborn acne can be present at birth or appear anytime during the first month. Newborn acne is thought to be caused by immature and clogged sebaceous glands. Many people also believe that newborn acne is a result of the mother’s hormones passing through to the baby during the final moments of pregnancy. Scrubbing a newborn baby’s face in an attempt to rid the baby of acne can aggravate the skin condition and it is strongly discouraged.

Newborn pimples and rashes can be present on the cheeks, chin, forehead and back. Male babies are more prone to develop newborn acne than female babies. Newborn acne will usually go away by the time the baby is six months old.

The most common types of newborn acne are papules and pustules. Papules are red bumps that look much like red pimples. They are small, solid and round. Pustules are also known as whiteheads. They are very small and white. The white part is where pus has gathered in your baby’s pores.

Monitor your baby’s body temperature. Bundling a baby too warmly can cause newborn acne to flare up. Being too hot can make the acne more noticeable and it will look inflamed. This is due to increased blood flow in your baby’s skin.

Newborn pimples and rashes can also be aggravated by moisture. Try to keep your baby’s mouth and face dry. Spit up can make newborn acne red because it irritates the existing bumps.

There are things that can make newborn pimples and rashes worse. Trying to scrub an infant’s skin to keep it clean can inflame the pimples and rashes. Babies who have newborn pimples and rashes have skin that is very fragile and sensitive. Continually rubbing on their delicate skin can make the condition worse. Newborn acne is not a reflection on the cleanliness of your baby. Newborn acne will pass.

Some detergents can aggravate newborn acne. Use a very mild detergent on clothing and blankets that your baby’s face will come in contact with. Holding your baby against your shoulder or placing your baby on a blanket that has been washed in a harsh detergent can make the acne worse. You should also make sure all clothing and blankets are soft. Abrasive and stiff material can irritate newborn acne.

Newborn acne does not cause any major problems for your baby. However, if it does not go away by six months you may want to have your baby’s pediatrician check your baby’s skin. The doctor may prescribe a special medication that you can apply to the affected areas.

You should not apply any oils, lotions or creams to your baby’s acne unless you are directed to do so by your baby’s doctor. If your baby’s pediatrician does instruct you to apply a cream, lotion or oil it will probably be one that is all natural.

Never use adult acne products on your baby’sskin. Many of these products contain substances that will only make your baby’s skin worse.

If you are having your baby’s portrait made it is perfectly fine to apply a light makeup to your baby’s acne. However, it should be washed from your baby’s face immediately after his or her picture is taken. Makeup will only make the acne worse. Use make up only for those special occasions such as picture taking. It should not be applied to your baby’s face on a daily basis.

The good news is that once your baby’s skin matures the acne will eventually fade away. Once they have conquered this baby acne you won’t see a bump on their faces until they reach adolescence.

Save Your Newborn From Acne With A Baby Acne Treatment by Stephanie Young

It is certainly a must for a new parent to know about a baby acne treatment especially when your newborn has developed acne. Do not panic, as it is not a serious problem. It is not permanent either and it vanishes on its own within a short period. At the same time, baby acne is not be ignored as it causes a lot of itching and inconvenience to the tender baby. By taking some care and simple baby acne treatment, we can avoid the accumulation and growth of additional bacteria. Before proceeding for any baby acne treatment, it would be better to know what it actually is. People of all ages are affected by acne and the newborn babies are not an exception. Normally acne occurs due to the excessive oil produced by the sebaceous glands. The acne-producing bacteria work along with the excessive oil and leads to an acne breakout. However, in case of newborn babies, acne occurs due to the hormones passed from the mother to child through the placenta during delivery.

These hormones excite the sebaceous glands in the babies and the result is a baby acne breakout. It can be normally seen on the forehead, cheeks, chin and back of the baby. The skin develops a red rash with small bumps on it and causes vigorous itching to the baby. A newborn is affected by baby acne usually around four weeks and it may last up to the age of four to six months.

Some people fail to distinguish between baby acne and other types of skin disorders. Many types of allergies and rashes affect infants. Some babies develop milia one of the skin disorder in which a baby develops bumps on face usually during the time of birth. Anyway, these bumps disappear very soon and no medication is needed. Some babies suffer with eczema that is again a type of skin rash. Therefore, it is very important to recognize the actual problem and then go for the right baby acne treatment. First, a baby should be always kept clean and hygienic. Always wash the baby’s body and face gently with warm water and mild baby soap. Avoid harsh soaps on the baby’s delicate skin and wash all the baby clothing like baby towels, bed linen, and blankets with mild detergents. Do not scrub or rub the body of the baby after wash rather pat it dry with a soft cloth. Over washing the skin can further aggravate the irritation and make sure not to apply any lotion or baby oil when he or she is suffering with baby acne.

The best way to treat a baby is to remain patient. However, if you find the problem severe then get the advice of a dermatologist. Never try to experiment the baby’s skin with creams and lotions meant for adult usage.

Baby acne is a common problem experienced by about 20% of newborn population. If left untreated, it disappears by itself. It is also found that male babies are more affected by baby acne compared to the female infants. It is very important to know that it is not a result of family history of acne. It also does not mean that a baby suffering from it will definitely face the acne problems in his future teenage years. There may be myths regarding this issue but the fact is that a best baby acne treatment will solve the problem.

How to Treat Baby Acne by David Bloom

Did you know that there is such a thing as baby acne? Actually it is more common than you might think. Many newborns show signs of acne within two weeks of birth. This doesn't mean that your baby will have blemishes forever; it just needs to be recognized and treated.

Baby acne is one of the most difficult forms to understand. Many scientists still do not know the answer to why your newborn gets blemished skin. Some believe that the hormones received by the mother at birth could be the cause of baby acne. Others believe that medications that the mother is taking while breastfeeding might be the reason. Unfortunately there is no right or wrong answer as to what gives your newborn acne, but there are ways to help prevent and treat it.

There may be no clear answer as to why newborn acne develops, but there are a few ways to help relieve this problem. Be sure to use mild detergents that have been washed thoroughly. This is to prevent irritation. A baby's skin is much more sensitive to strong detergents than ours and may cause the acne to worsen or even cause a rash. Be sure to clean any milk or food from your baby's face gently. Just like with adults, baby acne does not get better if you try to scrub it away. A baby is easily scarred from the smaller things, and acne is no exception, so please do not try to scrub your baby's face. These preventative methods are the best acne baby treatment.

Sometimes the best answer for how to treat baby acne is simple…have patience. Many newborns will close their pimples within two weeks, perhaps a little longer. It is vital that you keep you baby's face clean and to not apply moisturizer or any other acne treatment medications that you have used for yourself. These types of medications are much too strong and can cause irritation to an infant's skin.

Many people may be concerned at first sight of the rash-like appearance. You may even be tempted to take your baby to the doctor to find an acne baby treatment. The reality is that there really isn't any medication for blemishes that is safe for using on a baby's delicate skin.

If you have kept your child clean and laundered their clothes and blankets properly and the problem hasn't gotten better, then it may be something else. There are many different types of skin rashes that are more predominant in babies than in adults, which means if it doesn't look like tiny pimples, then it is best to get it checked by a doctor just to be safe.

You may be concerned about how to treat baby acne, but the only medicine is patience and cleanliness. An acne baby treatment more than likely will never be prescribed because as of today, there isn't a market for such medications. Baby acne may be a nuisance, but it will most certainly go away within a few weeks.

Baby Acne – The Whole Truth by John Wellington

It is natural for parents to be alarmed if their baby doesn't have typical soft, smooth skin. It is nothing to cause alarm because it is common in most babies to get various rashes. Baby acne is characterized by a rash of small red bumps or whiteheads developing on the face, but could also appear on the neck and back. If it appears scaly on the face, have your pediatrician take a look to be sure it is not eczema before treating it as baby acne.

Baby acne is commonly the mother's hormones passed to the baby in the placenta during pregnancy, but won't appear until 3 to 4 weeks afterwards. The hormones trigger the baby's oil producing glands, leading to the development of acne. It could also be the result of taking certain medications. The condition of his/her skin can worsen for several days if it comes in contact with milk or saliva. Increased blood flow to the skin, usually caused by crying, will irritate your babies' skin.

Treating baby acne is simple. Using water or a mild baby soap to gently wash their face once a day will help considerably. It is not caused by dirt so don't scrub your babies face because it could cause the irritation to worsen. Cleaning your babies' face with towels that have been washed in harsh detergents may also be a factor in the worsening of acne. Using warm water when washing the face could help to open the pores, which can help to clear the oils and sweat that contribute to acne baby. Greasy lotions and oils could aggravate the skin's sensitive condition. They can also contribute to pore clogging and persisting irritation.

Baby acne can become troublesome in the winter, just as with adult acne. Cold weather is a common factor in the drying out of facial skin, and the increased use of moisturizers. Some moisturizers are greasy and can cause break-outs. Light baby specific lotions will do better moisturizers intended for adult use. Parents tend to over-bundle their baby to prevent discomfort caused by exposure to cold weather. However, over-bundling could cause a heat rash that will worsen baby acne. Be sure to keep your baby comfortable because if he/she is in warm clothes and is in warm indoor environment, it could cause your baby to break out from heat.

Severe acne that lasts beyond the first 6 months or appears severe enough to result in facial scarring, may need to be treated by your pediatrician. Usually a mild medicine will be prescribed. An over-the-counter ionic colloidal silver solution could help to kill the bacteria present in excess oils and put a stop to uncomfortable itching. Other benefits of treating acne with ionic colloidal silver are that it reduces swelling, promotes healthy skin growth, and is hands down the safest treatment available to use on a baby. Rest assured that once your babies' acne clears up, it wont be making an appearance again until your child reaches its teenage years.

Understanding Baby Acne by Jason Rickard

If you think that acne is a problem only teenagers and adults face, think again. Infants can also have signs of acne. They could have breakouts as early as 2-3 weeks after birth. Baby acne is more common in the in the facial area (cheeks, chin and forehead) and they can even have back acne in this early stage of life.

Baby acne should not be mistaken with milia or eczema. Milia are also known as milk spots. These are small, hard and white-colored spots that usually disappear in about two weeks. Eczema, on the other hand, is a type of skin inflammation and is more serious than acne. Symptoms of eczema include scaling and blisters. Whiteheads are also an issue and these are small bumps, either white or flesh-colored, that are caused by blocked pores. You would know that your child has acne if pimples start to appear within their first month.

Some medical studies show that baby acne could start forming while babies are still in their mother's womb. In the latter stage of pregnancy, a mother's hormones are passed through the placenta and are received by the fetus. This can actually stimulate your baby's oil glands and with the presence of oil, acne can easily appear. This is why some babies would appear to have red pimples even right after birth.

To prevent acne, be sure that you are not using strong detergents in washing your baby's clothes. Some detergents may contain harsh chemicals that can aggravate the skin. Immediately wipe any food, drinks, or saliva that may drip off from your baby's mouth as this may worsen baby acne.

Always see to it that your baby's face is cleaned with water and a mild soap every day. Do not try to scrub their face because baby's skin is so sensitive and scrubbing would cause reddening. Do not use any oils and lotions that are not recommended by your doctor. These may irritate your baby's skin easily. You should be alarmed if your baby's acne problem lasts for more than six months. It is important to get your doctor's advice if baby acne gets worse.

There are a number of skin conditions that babies can get, and two different types of acne. Each one has different treatments and recommendations, so it's good to know the symptoms of each.

Cradle Crap

Like neonatal acne, cradle crap and seborrheic dermatitis are related to the hormonal changes associated with pregnancy, which cause the oil glands to go into overdrive. Cradle crap is:

* crusty, scaly, red patches on baby's scalp * caused by overactive sebaceous glands (these produce the skin's oil) * there can also redness in the crease of the baby's neck, armpits, and behind his ears * when it is only on the scalp, it is cradle crap. When it spreads all over the face, and in the diaper area, it is called seborrheic dermatitis. You should contact your doctor to get a stronger shampoo or alternative treatment if this occurs.

Heat Rash

Heat rash can occur in anyone, though babies are more vulnerable because their sweat glands aren't fully developed. Thus, they are less able to re-balance their core body temperature. Heat rash is characterized by very small bumps on the skin, surrounded by a red area. Heat rash:

* usually breaks out on areas of the body covered by clothes * this includes the trunk, groin, and armpits * it can cause fever and heat exhaustion in severe cases * hot and humid environments tend to be associated with it more * it can feel prickly or stinging

Baby Acne

Like teenage acne, baby acne occurs more often in boys than girls. Unlike later forms of acne, it is generally mild or moderate, and rarely severe.

It generally occurs on the face of infants – usually the cheeks, though it can spread to the chin and forehead. When this type of acne is mild to moderate, it is unlikely to lead to permanent scarring. However, if the acne is severe, scars can occur that last into adulthood. Those babies who develop severe acne usually get acne vulgaris when they reach the teenage years. Acne vulgaris is the most common type of acne people suffer from.

Neonatal acne can include features of regular acne like whiteheads and blackheads, as well as papules and pustules. Papules do not have pus in them, and look like small, solid, raised areas of the skin. Pustules do have pus in them, as the name suggests. Pustules generally form in sweat glands or hair follicles. It is composed of inflammatory cells as well as pus.

When there are no comedomes (whiteheads and blackheads), babies may have what is call neonatal cephalic pustulosis. This is a result of an infection by a genus of yeasts called malassezia. There are a number of different species belonging to this genus, although it has not been established whether the different species cause particular skin conditions. Malassezia yeasts can cause seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff, as well as neonatal cephalic pustulosis and a range of other conditions.

Neonatal cephalic pustulosis doesn't usually need treatment, though a topical antifungal cream can be applied.
