Essential Vitamins & Minerals To Keep Acne At Bay – Zinc by Alwyn Tan
1. Zinc
As you most probably have heard of many times about people recommending about Zinc supplementation, Zinc is one of the best choices of minerals that you should really look into to add to your diet. Zinc is needed for the production of over 100 enzymes in our body, it is also essential for the absorption of Vitamin A in our body. With that, in order to maximize your body’s absorption of Vitamin A, do take in some supplemented zinc as well if you are not getting enough from your regular diet.
Another thing that zinc does is similar to many other vitamins and minerals, it enhances our body’s immune system, growth development, and aiding in skin healing process. Aiding in skin healing process will generally hasten up acne treatment and also for acne scars as well.
The very most significantly important thing Zinc benefits us is that it helps to balance up the hormonal fluctuation in our body. Hormonal fluctuation causes excessive sebum production as you know and in turns causes clogged pores and finally acne.
There are so many benefits with Zinc when fighting against acne, that is why it has always been on comparison with tetracycline (antibiotic) for their effectiveness.
Yes, we do also experience little results with those zinc diets that are so ever popular. Do you know why? Actually, most of us do not absorb all the zinc consumed. Copper and iron intefers with the absorption of Zinc! We can easily go about this by taking even more Zinc if our diet contain large amounts of copper and iron!
However, do take note that no more than 100mg of Zinc should be taken daily. As usual, taking too much results in toxicity.
Some food that contain Zinc are oysters, red meat, nuts, cereals, mushrooms, egg yolks (don’t just eat the egg whites, this theory is BS), sunflower seeds. Zinc is found in soil where vegetables grow. Thus, if the soil is deficient in Zinc, you can’t expect much of the veggies’ quality either.
Generally there are 2 kinds of supplement for Zinc avaiable. Zinc Gluconate, and Zinc Monomethionine. The latter commonly known as Opti-Zinc. I strongly recommend Opti-Zinc as opposed to other kinds because research and statistics shown that this type of Zinc is best for Acne and its bioavailabilty. It should be taken along with food or else you could experience nausea.
Remember not to take Zinc along with Iron or Copper together!
I recommend this good one here, it costs just a mere $4+ as well.
