Excellent Resource on Divorce and Family Law January 24, 2007 D. Kalai 6 out of 12 found this review helpful
As an attorney, I know all too well how important it is to have a thorough understanding of legal issues and proper representation. Too many people are afraid to ask questions for fear of appearing ignorant. This book is a must-read for anyone contemplating separation, divorce, or child custody issues.
Ms. Donovan's practical, easy-to-understand advice will guide the reader through the often precarious minefields of understanding and defending her rights, whether she is representing herself or working with a lawyer.
The worksheets and tips enable readers to directly participate in their cases and anticipate the issues that will inevitably arise.

Most informative and an easy read! September 14, 2009 KDL (SoCal) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
After 15 years of marriage and together nearly 20-I had to kick my husband out of the house. While he was gone I got this book. I was not crazy about the title of the book, but got it anyway because it got good reviews. I have to say it really is a GREAT source of info and encourages women to stay strong and stay the course. Divorce is NOT what is used to be in the 80's and earlier. Gone are the days when women get thousands per month in child support so better get in the game, get strong and most of all stay informed. This book was a huge help in letting the reader know what could happen or what will likely happen next. (My husband is back-and Im hiding this book, but will still be taking step to protect myself....just in case....)
Hit Him Where It Hurts January 19, 2007 Jean Faillace (Monroe, IN USA) 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
An excellent tool for women contemplating divorce or in the midst of a divorce. Author, Sherri Donovan, shows compassion for women going through a divorce, helps women cut through the emotions and provides tools to empower them in helping themselves.
Every woman in a divorce situation needs this book for empowerment in passing through the role of being hurt and feeling powerless. Sherri provides women with the court's perspective--what is important in the legal arina, not in the emotional arina. In doing so, Sherri supports women with powerful knowledge on how to help themselves and stay focused.
The book can help women understand: what information they need to gather, the actions that are available to them through the courts, how to protect themselves and their children, how they can effectively strengthen their case resulting in a fair settlement.
Donovan's book is refreshing in that she just doesn't talk about divorce, she "shows women what to do". Every woman's group should read this book. Hopefully Sherri will be on radio or TV so that we can see her in action, ....in person via the media.
This is a gift that all women should get their friends who have a relationship that is hopelessly falling apart, or are in divorce procedings.

This is a MUST READ for women who are getting a divorce or even thinking of it. It's an easy to read and easy to understand overview of all the different aspects of divorce to help protect women and children. I found the information to be up to date and right on target. I highly recommend this one!
